Not looking too good with 5:27 to go -- 10 points behind. Was really hoping they could win at least one game to finish on a positive note. . .

And so it ends.
The 2nd half was a picture of the season.

Now they can regroup and move on, with the underclassmen preparing for next year.

Nice to see the Harpers were there. My best to the seniors. When you are in the cellar, the only way is up. A plateau at this level next year will clear out Williams Arena. Poor Maturi. Lousy programs across the board with coaches drawing big salaries while U of M employees face
furloughs. Get busy. Find some hungry people with energy to turn this stuff around.

When all is said and done, this year will go down as one of those years where things just didn't work. It wasn't fun to be a fan and I'm sure it wasn't fun to be a player or a coach either. I wish the best to the 5 seniors who represented the University and the state well during their careers.

Mercifully, it's over for the 09-10 season. We can be very proud of this group of young women as they are academically gifted and, oh, such good citizens. Athletically, not so much. This last game revealed a major problem with these women that has been evident for a least 2 years. They unfailingly miss layups. They miss when in the paint, when driving to the basket and tipping in. It is highschool basketball all over the place. No technique, no fundamentals, no development/improvement through the years with this staff. They cannot move into a scoring position when moving without the ball. And, they become spectators when one of them gets off a three never following up their shots or figuring the probable angle of the rebound. McCoy never ever, despite what has been said figured out how to consistently feed the ball off to a moving team mate-a strategy so much in evidence on the good teams. And holding onto the ball seems beyond their level of skill.

While these remarks are harsh, they are consistent with what I have been reading through this year and what other fans of the program have been quietly saying and observing. Our recent teams seem uninspired if not confused. They have been losing leads and have not figured out how to rally back. Is it lack of talent, poor coaching, motivation? We'll be back in our seats next November with a critical eye. And a chance to answer these questions.

Sad to see the season end so soon. This just wasn't our year. Hopefully we can learn from this season and build on it. I tip my hat to the seniors. Thanks for four great years. You will be missed.

Go, Gophers!!!

Ugly end to the season---and I think we are all collectively glad it has mercifully come to an end.

But we have to remain optimistic. After all, we are Minnesotans.

Basketball isn't like other sports (like Football), where it takes years and years of recruiting classes to turn around a program. In basketball, you can go from good to bad, or bad to good from one year to the next. While I don't expect us to go from worst to first next year, I'd like to think we will have a much better season next year. Gotta keep the faith.

Good Luck Gophers!!!

Did I hear correctly last night that we are now 4-12 in the B10 tourney? And that includes the years when we had some very good teams. Can we decline the invite to participate in this tourney (sarcasm)? It could save the athletic department some travel expenses and the fans the aggravation. It should be pointed out that the Gopher men's basketball program hasn't fared much better.

Actually, it is 5 wins and 15 losses

And 2 of those wins came one year, 2005. The other wins were in 1997 (as the 11th seed), 2004 and 2007.

Does the U have to pay for the team to play in the tournament? I always thought the Big Ten would cover all, or most, travel expenses.

We are now 5-16 in the tournament. This is the 16th year. Not sure why the site lists us with 0 2nd place finishes. We had one vs. Michigan State in 2005.
