Great article about the work Charde is doing off the court. It is currently on the front page of startribune.com

This is a truly wonderful program! Good for Charde to build on her own difficult experiences for inspiration to help others. Brava!

I really don't think her focus is basketball, if you're signed up for her tweets. The focus seems to be this foundation and training to be in the FBI.

I do know what you mean . . .it is easy to read players' tweets and assume that they don't care when they lose or they aren't invested in the WNBA, somehow, but I don't think that's fair. It's like judging a person based on listening in on a few seconds of conversation when you have no idea what they did and talked about for 99% of their day. You know, what somebody tweets, posts, blogs about is not always an indication of where their focus is. In fact often people use those things as a way to get away from where they put most of their time and energy. For example, I very rarely talk online about raising an autistic teenager, but guess what my main focus in life is? But I talk about other things online.

Also I think it is really important for WNBA players to have more than basketball going on in their lives. They aren't going to make millions playing ball and their careers will be short, relatively speaking. So, for their own good, I am glad that so many WNBA players have other stuff going on. I don't want to be reading about former WNBA stars being bankrupt, pathetic junkies five years after they leave the game. I see enough of that crap in the NFL and NBA.

Good points all muneraven but I also can see where shades maybe coming from.

Char is a person who thinks & believes she can have & do it all. Nothing wrong with that. But she has put a lot on her plate. She's been going to school-working on a masters (she on break from classes for a few wks), running the foundation; doing appearances; speaking engagments all while playing basketball, the job that allows her to make a living at least of now. So she seems to be splitting herself pretty thin.

With the team struggling through all the challenges they've had to face, they need all 10 players to really be focused on getting each of their own gms on track, understanding whatever systems coach is trying to implement and then coming together as a team. She's young so I'm assuming she's in the process of learning how to balance all the things she needs & wants to do. But basketball wise, the team needs a focused Charde.
